How to Replace the Steering Wheel on a Chevrolet Express

Model: Chevrolet Express MK 1 - Years 1996-2003

To replace the steering wheel on a Chevrolet City Express, disconnect the battery terminals by loosening the nut with a 8mm socket; after disconnecting the battery, insert a long screwdriver into the holes behind the steering wheel and, using your hands, remove the horn assembly from its clips; once the horn assembly is removed, disconnect the connector to take it off; now disconnect the other connectors (cruise control and blue connector), then use a 21mm socket to remove the steering wheel nut. Reinsert the nut by hand so that when you pull on the steering wheel, it won't come off unexpectedly. Pull the steering wheel until it reaches the nut, then remove the nut and take off the steering wheel. Now remove the Torx screws to take off the steering wheel controls and reinstall them on the new wheel. To reassemble the steering wheel, perform the same steps in reverse order. Be careful, when removing and reinstalling the steering wheel, the wheels and steering wheel must be aligned straight.
