The DPF filter light is present on diesel vehicles and helps reduce polluting emissions; it indicates the regeneration of the particulate filter which on many new generation vehicles regenerates automatically. The light coming on is not a cause for alarm but a signal that the filter is autonomously regenerating, so we should not turn off the vehicle but wait for the light to go off. Once the light has turned off, then we can turn off the engine. It is still possible to continue driving in these cases, but it is advisable to pull over and wait for the process to finish.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
