Replacing Brake Pads

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands and remove the front wheels. Next, detach the retaining spring of the pads from the caliper using a screwdriver, remove the protective caps from the caliper fixing pins and unscrew them. Pry between the disc and caliper to retract the piston and facilitate the removal of the caliper, which should be cleaned of any debris. Retract the piston using an old pad and a pair of pliers. Then replace the brake disc, insert the new pads, reposition the caliper, tightening the respective fixing pins and reattaching the spring.
