Repairing the Fuel Cap of a Fiat Grande Punto

Let's see how to repair the fuel cap of a Fiat Grande Punto: the cap continues to turn even when locked with the key. To repair it, you need to remove it. Under the cap, there are tabs that hold it in place. Once identified, start with those to completely unlock and open the cap. Inside, you will see the locking mechanism. When the key is in the locked position, it no longer engages with the pins inside. Therefore, continue disassembling the cap. Use a screwdriver to remove the metal clip, put the key in the open position, and pull it upwards with force. The cylinder will come out completely. Inside, remove the small plastic gear. One solution would be to replace that, but it is a temporary fix, as the metal cylinder will wear it out again. It is better to add a small metal shim on the edge to rebuild the thickness and prevent it from wearing out again. Now you can reassemble everything, ensuring the key functions correctly.
