It was a design choice that was introduced gradually: it aims to reduce weight and costs, while offering greater resistance to corrosion. However, long-term durability and impact resistance remain the main concerns for most owners and industry professionals. If the materials used are of high quality and the design and production processes are rigorous, oil sumps made of plastic material could prove to be reliable in the long term; however, concerns about premature damage or leakage problems are legitimate. Only time will tell us how valid this solution is.
