To replace the rear shock absorber on a Ford Fusion, lift the vehicle with a jack or lift so that the corresponding wheel is not in contact with the ground. This will allow you to loosen the bolts that secure the wheel to its housing, giving you access to the components at the rear. At this point, you can remove the bolts that secure the shock absorber at both the bottom and the top, completely removing it. After removal, install the new replacement part, securing it and reinstalling the corresponding wheel.
