If the automatic gearbox of the Ford Ranger is stuck, it obviously prevents the use of the vehicle. There is a procedure to reset it, which is outlined below: With the gear lever in position P and the brake pedal pressed, turn on the instrument panel, shift the lever to N, and then turn off the panel. After 10 seconds, shift the lever back to P and turn the panel on again, waiting another 10 seconds before moving the gear lever to N. You will see the message 'Transmission Ready' on the dashboard, indicating the procedure was successful.
