This guide describes how to replace the engine oil and oil filter on a Honda CBR600RR. Obtain 3 litres of Motul 7100 SAE 10W40 oil and a Champion COF104 oil filter. Position the motorcycle on the rear stand. Start the engine, allow it to reach operating temperature, and then switch off. Place a container for collecting the used oil under the engine. Using a 4mm Allen key, unscrew the screws on the lower front fairing (chin) and detach the two parts from the frame. Using a ratchet and a 12mm socket, unscrew the oil drain plug located under the rear of the engine. Allow the oil to drain and clean the plug thoroughly. Use a 65mm socket to unscrew the oil filter located at the front of the engine. Lubricate the seal of the new filter with oil, screw it in by hand, and then tighten it a turn with the socket. Screw in the oil drain plug. Clean any oil-soiled exhaust headers with brake cleaner. Open the oil filler cap located on the right side of the engine casing. Pour in the oil, referring to the inspection hole at the bottom of the casing. Start the engine for a minute and switch off. Check the oil level again.

Changing the Oil and Filter on the Kawasaki Versys

Here’s how to change the oil and filter on the Kawasaki Versys. Warm up the engine for a few minutes, place the motorcycle on the centre stand, open the filler cap, and remove the drain plug underneath the engine. Place a catch basin under the oil sump, unscrew the drain plug, and let the oil drain out. Unscrew the oil filter and let all the old oil drain out. Install a new filter and tighten it with the appropriate tool. Pour half a glass of new oil into the filler cap and wait for it to flow out of the drain hole, after which replace the plug. Fill with approximately 1.8 litres of new oil, take it for a short ride to circulate the oil in the engine, stop the engine, and check the level through the designated window. Top up if necessary.
