How to Replace the Oil Filter on Jeep Compass 2.2 CRD

Replacing the oil filter is usually done alongside an oil change, so you will need to perform the oil change before proceeding. Inside the engine bay, near the coolant reservoir, you will find the cover that houses the oil filter. Since it is located in the engine block, you will need to remove the upper engine cover to access it. Once the cover is removed, you can access the oil filter cover, which has a specific attachment. To unscrew it, you will need a special tool designed for this purpose. After unscrewing the cover, you will have access to the oil filter inside, which can be replaced with a new one. The packaging of the new filter usually contains instructions indicating the direction of insertion, but if they are not available, you can install it in the same orientation as the old one. The cover will also have three O-rings, which should be replaced with the new ones typically supplied with the filter. It is advisable to lubricate them with a bit of oil before inserting them into their seats, after which you can reattach the cover to the engine block. The torque for the cover is 25 Nm, so to avoid damaging the plastic threads and the O-rings, it is recommended to tighten it using a torque wrench. Once the cover with the new filter inside is secured, you can proceed with the first start-up and top up the oil if necessary.
