The button to open the rear tailgate of the Jeep Wagoneer is located in a rather unusual position, and if you don't know where it is, you can waste a lot of time trying to find it! It is integrated into the headlining, near the front of the vehicle, in the panel between the driver and passenger that contains the courtesy lights.

It is a plastic button with the icon of a car with the tailgate open, or the word "liftgate". Naturally, the tailgate can also be opened from the physical button hidden under the cover plate of the external handle.
