How to Remove the Radio in the Kia Sportage

Model: Kia Sportage QL, MK 4 - Years 2016-2022

To remove the radio from the Kia Sportage, follow these general steps: Ensure the car is off and the key is removed from the ignition. Locate the air vents on the top of the dashboard, beside the radio. These vents can be easily removed by gently pulling them towards you. Use a plastic lever or a similar tool to avoid damaging the dashboard. Once the air vents are removed, you should see exposed fixing screws. Use an appropriate screwdriver to remove the screws. Typically, there are two screws at the top of the radio. After removing the screws, carefully grasp the trim around the radio and gently pull it towards you. The trim should be clipped in, so it may require some force to remove. Ensure you apply even pressure on both sides to avoid damaging the trim or the radio. Once the trim is removed, you should see the screws securing the radio to the panel. Remove these screws using an appropriate screwdriver. After removing the fixing screws, you can gently pull the radio out of the panel. Carefully pull the electrical connectors attached to the back of the radio to disconnect them. Ensure you press on the locking mechanism, if present, to properly release the connectors. At this point, the radio should be completely removed from the panel. You can replace it with a new radio or carry out any necessary repairs.
