To replace the gear knob on the Mazda 2, simply grip the old knob and rotate it counterclockwise to unscrew it from the gear lever. This is possible because the gear knob is not directly connected to the leather gaiter.

Therefore, the new gear knob can be inserted and screwed onto the lever by rotating it clockwise this time. Before screwing it in, apply some glue to its base and press the gaiter against the base of the knob to ensure they adhere.
