Let's talk about the reliability of the Mercedes 7G DGT automatic transmission, with a dual clutch transmission, one for even gears and one for odd gears: the reason they have this dual clutch is to make them very fast. These are gearboxes that can last a long time with the right maintenance. They can be a bit slow during kick-down if you shift on the same clutch, for example from sixth to fourth, while if the kick-down happens on two different clutches it would be much faster. Some attention should also be paid to reverse gear on a downhill slope, because the car tends to roll forward, so we should use the handbrake to start. It is important to change the gearbox oil every 100,000 kilometers or so, and it is advisable to have it done by a professional, who will also clean the system.
