The automatic gearbox control unit of the Mercedes Class A W168 can easily malfunction.

In this video, we are shown a fairly common fault on the automatic gearbox of the Mercedes A-Class W168: when we turn on the car's instrument panel, we see that all the lights come on normally, except for the one indicating the gear currently engaged, such as "P" or "N" and not even "F" which could indicate a malfunction in the automatic gearbox. The car works perfectly, but while driving, it goes into "F" and doesn't move anymore. We try to pull over, turn it off, and sometimes it resets and starts again, but after a few kilometers the fault reoccurs. The problem lies in the burned out control unit, which is not repairable; we must therefore replace it, and it is not a cheap part.
