In this video, we see how the active steering assistance system works on Mercedes vehicles, to keep the driver always in the center of the lane, as long as the driver keeps their hands on the wheel. This system works up to a speed of 210 km/h, and uses cameras and radar to orient itself on the horizontal road markings and on the vehicles ahead and adjacent. It can be activated or deactivated through the multimedia system, and if activated, the steering wheel icon is displayed on the screen; it is also necessary for the distance adjustment system to be activated, and the color of the symbol on the dashboard will change from gray to green. It keeps the vehicle in the center of the lane, but driver intervention is always required, for example in roundabouts or intersections, or in certain cases where human intervention is required. The system alerts the driver if they are distracted, through initially visual and then auditory messages.
