How the Active Distance Assist System Works on Mercedes Benz

Let's look at how the active distance assist system, known as "Distronic Plus" on Mercedes Benz, works in detail. The system operates at speeds between 12 and 130 mph. Once activated, the system automatically reduces speed when approaching a preceding vehicle. If this vehicle is stationary or about to stop, the system will brake comfortably until a complete stop; in most situations, manual braking will not be necessary. Only if the deceleration is insufficient will a warning signal be emitted, and then you will need to intervene with the brake. If the vehicle is equipped with driving assistance and electronic parking systems, in the event of a Distronic brake, the vehicle will restart on its own within 30 seconds. The Distronic system is activated by pressing the rocker switch upwards located on the left side of the steering wheel, and the display is activated by the onboard computer display system. However, the system may not be able to recognise vehicles travelling offset to us. Remember that Distronic is only an auxiliary device; the responsibility for driving is always and solely yours.
