How the Active Brake Assist System Works on Mercedes Benz

Model: Mercedes Mercedes Various
Part: Instrument cluster

Video tutorial

Many Mercedes vehicles feature the Active Brake Assist system, which supports the driver during braking. If the vehicle detects a collision risk, the driver is alerted and assisted; if the driver does not apply the brake, the vehicle automatically brakes.

This is achieved through the analysis of radar sensor information and the stereoscopic camera, reacting to stationary or moving vehicles or crossing pedestrians. This system can be deactivated if desired, via the "multimedia assistance" menu.

When active, insufficient distance is indicated visually and audibly, and it can perform autonomous braking up to full brake application. However, remember that this is only an auxiliary device.
