How to Remove Seats from Mercedes SLK

Model: Mercedes Slk MK 2, R171 - Years 2004-2011
Part: Seat

Note: you will need inverted TORX keys for removal. It is advised not to attempt to remove the screws with hex sockets as this may damage the heads of the bolts. You will also need a 17mm spanner or socket and a small screwdriver. Procedure: slide the seat fully back and remove the two front bolts from the rails. Then slide the seat all the way forward and remove the two rear bolts from the rails. This phase is very delicate as the seat is no longer securely fixed and tends to move or fall. Exercise maximum caution for safety. Tilt the seat backrest forward and carefully disconnect the airbag/heated seat connectors. The cables and connectors are very fragile. Extract the seat from the vehicle. For ease of handling, remove the seatbelt once the seat is out of the vehicle. Use a screwdriver to remove the plastic cap and unscrew the bolt with a 17mm spanner.
