To replace the timing chain on the Mercedes A-Class, you need to open the hood to access the engine compartment. Here, you will need to remove any obstructing parts located at the front of the engine so that the front cover can be removed. Once this is removed, you will have access to the pulleys and the tensioner: this should be removed first by loosening its mounting screws. After removing the tensioner, you can also loosen the nuts that secure the central pins of the pulleys, allowing the chain to be slid out and replaced.
