How to Adjust the Trunk Opening Force on a Mercedes E-Class W212

When the trunk of the vehicle opens with too much force, it can be very annoying and sometimes even dangerous. There is a way to make it open more slowly and safely, without complicated interventions, on the Mercedes E-Class W212. Simply pull back the side seal that holds the upholstery in place, and you will find a large spring on both sides that regulates the trunk opening force.

If you want it to open more slowly, just move the spring hook from the third to the fourth hole on both sides. This way, the springs will be less stressed and will open with less force.

Then, just reposition the seal over the trunk upholstery, and the job is done.
