How to Replace the Key Battery on a Mini Cooper

Replacing the battery in the Mini Cooper remote is simple and quick. Locate the unlock button on the back of the key, press it, and extract the emergency metal key. Insert a thin tool (like a flat screwdriver or a stick) into the slot left by the key and pry to separate the remote shell. Once opened, lift the battery cover and remove the old battery (usually a CR2032). Insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Close the battery cover and press the two halves of the remote together until you hear a click. Reinsert the metal key and check the operation of the buttons. The procedure takes only a few minutes and does not damage the key.
