Today’s guide will show you how and when to replace the timing chain on the Mini Cooper, following the instructions below. For this type of engine, the timing chain should be replaced every 155,000 miles or 10 years.

Raise the vehicle and remove the front right wheel and wheel arch liner. Disconnect the serpentine belt and remove the crankshaft pulley.

Remove the timing cover to access the chain, as shown in the video. Follow the instructions in the video for replacing the timing chain!
