How to Put the Handbrake of the Opel/Vauxhall Meriva B into Service Mode

Let's see how to put the electric handbrake of the Opel Meriva B into "service" mode: put the gear in neutral, turn on the ignition, press the brake pedal several times to deplete the vacuum of the brake booster, and then keep the brake pedal pressed. Press the brake pedal switch down until the orange service light flashes. Release, and press the switch down again for 5 seconds until the orange light goes off. Release the switch and the brake pedal at the same time. The orange light flashes, and you will hear the noise of the electric motor disengaging: now the calipers are in service mode. Turn off the ignition. To deactivate service mode, put it in neutral, turn on the ignition, pull the handbrake switch, and press the brake pedal simultaneously. Hold until the orange light goes off and the rear caliper disengages.
