Does the Eco button on Peugeot cars really help to consume less fuel?

A question that all Peugeot owners ask themselves is this: does the Eco button really save fuel? The answer is yes, but not in the magical way one might expect. The main change that the "eco" button makes is that the gas pedal becomes less sensitive: the accelerator pressure becomes gradual and smooth, leading the driver to a softer driving style, preventing sudden and unnecessary accelerations. The Eco mode optimizes the intervention strategy of the electric motor in Mild-Hybrid models, favoring zero-emission driving. So the answer depends a lot on our driving style. If we are nervous drivers, the Eco button will help us a lot, but if we are already "soft" drivers, we will not find much difference compared to our usual driving style.
