Peugeot 206 Plus - Video tutorial

Model: Peugeot 206 Plus MK 1 - Years 1998-2014
Part: Timing belt
Operation: How to replace the timing belt

The following video shows you how to replace the timing belt in the Peugeot 206 Plus. First of all the necessary tools for the operation are listed: a 10 mm bolt and a 6 mm bolt for the camshaft, a ratchet wrench with coupling 10 and 8 mm male square. The belt is located on the right side of the engine. The poly belt must be removed, therefore it will be necessary to access it: loosen the bolts of the right front wheel (pull the handbrake and place some stops behind the tires), disconnect the battery then lift the car with the jack and remove the wheel. Remove the plastic front part of the wheel housing. Now insert the ratchet wrench with the 10 mm male coupling into the belt tensioner and remove the belt. Remove the top and bottom covers of the timing belt. Engine timing is adjusted by the 10mm cam wheel retaining bolt. The crankshaft is locked by the 6mm bolt inserted into the flywheel. To fit the new belt, the tensioner must be turned and fixed, after which the belt must be turned twice. Now you have to fix the tensioner with a 20mm wrench. The tension is correct when the belt can be turned 90 degrees using two fingers. Now try starting the car to check the voltage. Reassembling the lower part of the transmission belt cover is complex: secure the cover with an M6 bolt; clean the crankshaft wheel and reposition it and tighten its bolts with a 20mm wrench. Now mount the new poly belt. Refit the plastic cover in the wheel housing. Lastly, refit the wheel.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
