How to Replace Gear Knob on Peugeot 206

In this video, we will describe the various steps to replace the gear knob on a Peugeot 206. Start by detaching the gaiter frame by pushing the rear edge forward and lifting it carefully to avoid damaging the clips on the front edge. Lift the gaiter to expose the plastic clip at the base of the knob. Using wire cutters, cut the clip and remove it; now you are ready to pull out the gear knob. Firmly grip the knob and pull it upwards (this requires some force), once the old knob is removed, slide it off the gaiter. Insert the new knob ensuring the gear pattern is facing the correct way, also check that the seam of the knob aligns with that of the gaiter. Apply a plastic clip at the base of the new knob to secure it to the gaiter. Ensure that the white plastic part on the gear lever is intact and reinsert the knob with firm taps. Finish by reattaching the gaiter.
