How Does the EAT8 Gearbox Work in Peugeot Cars?

The EAT8 gearbox installed in Peugeot cars is a type of automatic transmission activated by a specific switch located on the centre console: this switch can be set to P, R, N, D, and B (for electric motors) or M (for petrol/diesel engines). The P mode should be selected when the car is parked, allowing you to engage the handbrake; R indicates reverse, N allows the car to be in neutral, and D allows for automatic gear changes. Finally, the letters B and M are found on electric and petrol/diesel engine versions respectively: B activates the function that allows for greater energy recovery during braking, while M allows for manual gear changes using the paddle shifters.
