How do you unlock the parking brake of the Renault Espace IV?

Let's see how to unlock the handbrake of a Renault Espace IV: if the battery is completely dead, the handbrake button will not work, so we will need to locate the release mechanism which is located in the central console, between the two front seats. Lift the storage compartment, under which we will find a lever (but it could also be a small ring) of red color. Pull it towards us: we will hear a distinct "click" that tells us that the parking brake has been released, and the light on the dashboard should turn off (if the battery still powers the display!).
