How to Replace the Starter Motor on a 1.5 dCi Renault Engine

Let's see how to replace the starter motor on a 1.5 dCi Renault engine. In this specific case, it is mounted on a Renault Kangoo: lift the car from the driver's side, disconnect the negative terminal (the black one) from the battery. The starter is located at the front of the engine and is visible from underneath, and from this position, you can see the screws that hold it (one on top and one on the bottom). Remove the copper bolt of the main power, then the solenoid wire with an 8 mm spanner (it is the small wire next to it). To unscrew the starter, you need to access the upper screw, which is really difficult to see, while the lower one is clearly visible. Once these are removed, the starter is free. You may need to remove the oil pressure sensor; pull the starter out of its mount and extract it, ensuring that the aluminium bush remains on the old starter. Retrieve it with pliers and clean it to remount it on the new starter, which you will have found on Auto-doc. It has the EAN code 3276424604897 at a price of £75.99 + £9.95 delivery. Insert it from below, re-screw the two screws, reconnect the cables, first the small one then the large one, and reconnect the oil pressure sensor. Put the car back on the ground and reconnect the battery. Test the starting.
