To adjust the handbrake on a Renault Clio, unscrew the bolts around the plastic cover of the centre tunnel so that it can be removed. This will allow access to the nut that adjusts the handbrake tension: loosening the nut will make the handbrake slower and increase its travel; conversely, tightening the nut will make the handbrake firmer and reduce its travel. Once the adjustment is complete, reposition the centre tunnel cover and secure it with the appropriate bolts.
