To adjust the handbrake on a Renault Clio, lift the car with a jack or ramp so that the right rear wheel is removed from its housing. After removing the wheel, you can completely take off the corresponding brake drum.

Once the drum is removed, locate the shoes inside: at their centre, there is a bolt that allows you to adjust the handbrake's tension. Tightening it will make the handbrake firmer and reduce its travel, while loosening it will increase the travel and decrease the firmness.
