The timing belt on your Renault Clio should be replaced between 37,000 and 75,000 miles, or after 5/7 years even if the mileage has not been reached. The timing belt must be replaced proactively. Do not wait for it to break or cause problems. To replace it, first remove the plastic cover protecting the toothed belt, then rotate the crankshaft pulley until all timing marks are aligned: to facilitate disassembly, it is necessary to remove the engine mount (support the engine with a jack). At this point, using a pair of pliers, loosen the tensioner to remove the toothed belt (it is recommended to replace the tensioner and bearing along with the belt). Refit the belt, ensuring the timing marks are maintained, and tension it by adjusting the appropriate tensioner.
