How to Replace the Rear Brake Light Bulb on a SEAT Altea XL

Model: Seat Altea MK 1 - Years 2004-2015

Before you start, open the boot lid. Once open, you will notice a snap-on cover on the left side of the boot, which you will remove. After removing the cover, you will have direct access to the bulb connector, which you will disconnect. Having done this, unscrew the adjacent screw by hand. This will free the light unit from the inside. To completely remove the light unit and allow for bulb replacement, unscrew the two outer screws, and then you will be able to pull the light unit from its housing. Once this step is completed, to free the bulb holder, unscrew the two screws that secure it. At this point, simply unclip the holder. When the holder is free, to extract the bulb, just press and turn counter-clockwise, and you will have successfully removed it. To fit the new bulb, simply reverse the steps.
