The process of replacing the timing belt is quite laborious and complex. Below, we will summarise the most important steps, also using the video for assistance. First, lift the car and remove the right wheel, then open the bonnet. Next, remove the upper cover of the timing belt by disengaging the two clips, and unscrew the bolts of the upper engine support bracket. Lock the movement of the camshaft and crankshaft gears with a pin to ensure the engine timing is preserved. Then, remove the alternator belt by loosening the tensioner, followed by removing the crankshaft pulley and the lower timing belt cover. Finally, remove the timing belt by loosening the tensioner.
