Replacing the alternator on this model, as well as on all vehicles in the VAG family sharing the same engine, is extremely straightforward since it is located at the front left of the engine bay (when viewed from the front), and there is sufficient space to work without removing any other components. First, remove the engine cover, disconnect the battery, and release the auxiliary belt by loosening the tensioner to free the alternator pulley. At this point, simply unscrew the relevant mounting bolts.
