Replace the Gear Knob on Smart Fortwo

How do you remove the gear knob on a Smart Fortwo? Let's see the disassembly. Take the knob in your hands and rotate it left and right until you remove it from the gear stick. Use a plastic lever to disconnect the screw covers on the centre tunnel, then unscrew the retaining screws. Remove the centre tunnel and subsequently the gear stick cover. Fit the new cover with the new knob: screw in the screws for the centre tunnel, cover the holes with the caps. Secure the new knob on top of the gear stick (connect any electrical wires if the knob has LEDs).
