How to replace the gear knob on a Smart ForTwo

Model: Smart Smart 450 - Years 1998-2007

Before we can begin, we will have to go and sit in the driver's seat of our Smart ForTwo. To carry out this operation in total safety, it is highly recommended to have the engine off, the parking brake activated and to engage the gearbox in neutral. Let's start by pulling the gear knob upwards. By doing so, we will disengage it from its gear lever. When we have completed this last step, we will have successfully completed the disassembly of the gear knob of our Smart ForTwo. To mount the new gear knob, all we have to do is repeat these few steps in reverse, and we will have finished the replacement.
