How to Replace the Alternator Belt on a Smart ForTwo 451 CDI

This guide outlines the steps to replace the alternator belt on a Smart ForTwo 451 CDI. Start by lifting the car, removing the right rear wheel, and using a flathead screwdriver or a lever to remove the 2 pins from the belt cover and take it off. Next, remove the elastic belt: position the extraction tool and rotate the crankshaft with a Torx E18. Once the belt is removed, loosen the alternator mounting bolts with a 15mm socket and move it to take off the alternator belt. Before completely removing the alternator belt, note its routing so you can reinstall it correctly. Insert the new belt and reposition the alternator; using the appropriate tool, install the previously removed elastic belt. Refit the cover and finally the wheel.
