To maintain the hood of the Smart 451, lower it completely so that the motor and gears located at the sides of the rear window are accessible. These should be regularly lubricated with appropriate oil to limit wear and prevent rust. If any of the gears or the motor are excessively worn, they must be replaced with new spare parts. It is also advisable to lubricate the sliding rails of the hood, which are located at the top of the car.
