How to open the trunk hatch locked in a Toyota Prius?

In a Toyota Prius, it may happen that the trunk hatch gets stuck, for example due to a problem with the command button or the lock actuator. In these cases, we can perform an emergency opening by following the simple procedure shown in this tutorial. First, we open the rear doors, then we locate the two levers on the top edge of the backrests, activate them, and lower the backrests. We then go inside the trunk, remove the bottom panel, and manually activate the lock through the designated slot.
