To change the gear oil on a Triumph Speed 400, start by positioning the motorcycle on a flat and stable surface, using a centre or side stand to ensure it is well balanced. Locate the gear oil drain plug, usually found at the bottom of the engine.

Before unscrewing the plug, place a container underneath to catch the used oil. Loosen the plug with an appropriate spanner and allow the oil to drain completely. Once all the oil has drained, screw the drain plug back in, ensuring it is tight.

Next, fill the gearbox with the new oil specified for your Triumph Speed 400 through the designated opening. After filling, check for any leaks and ensure everything is properly closed before putting the motorcycle back into operation.
