Repair and Replacement of the Air Conditioning Control

Here is an overview of the most common procedures for repairing air conditioning controls. First, disconnect the negative battery cable and then remove the dashboard trim panels to access the control unit. The first type of fault may be a damaged knob: remove the control unit from the dashboard to access the Torx screws on the back and replace the buttons or knobs. If the air blend actuator is faulty, remove the fixing screws and disconnect the actuator's control rod; remove it and install the new component, reconnecting it to the control rod and connectors. If the control cable is disconnected or broken, access the control unit and the blend area, checking that the cable is still attached to both the lever inside the knob and the blend lever. If the cable is simply disconnected, reconnect it; if it is broken or bent, it will need to be replaced.
