Learn how to check vital components of a MAN truck from the dashboard: turn on the instrument panel and use the buttons on the steering wheel: the left arrow (back) and the "ok" button. The main menus to check are "Driving data/consumption" to see fuel consumption; "monitoring data" leads to "engine oil" where you can check the engine oil level, "brake pad" indicates the thickness of the front/rear brake pads (minimum threshold 30%); "Operating data" shows the total operating hours of the vehicle.

You can check the external lights by looking for the button with the light bulb symbol on the dashboard; pressing it activates a light test mode: all external lights will illuminate for a visual check. There is also a "service/diagnose/control unit" menu, which is reserved for specialised personnel.
