Additionally, consider the quality of the oil: only 100% synthetic oil offers optimal protection for modern engines; some budget oils use re-refined bases, reducing both longevity and effectiveness.

Using the wrong oil risks premature engine wear: if it does not meet the manufacturer's specifications, the oil quickly loses viscosity. This can also lead to engine damage due to insufficient lubrication or overheating.

Always use oil recommended by the manufacturer, checking viscosity and specification. Avoid overly cheap oils and change the oil at most every 12,500 miles.

Switching to thicker oils to reduce consumption is a mistake: it damages passages designed for lower viscosity.
