How to repair burns and holes on car fabrics and mats with the Coconix kit

Model: (Various brands) Various
Part: Seat

Video tutorial

In this video, we recommend the Coconix Kit, which consists of repair fibres, textile glue, a spatula, elastic mesh, a mixing jar with a metal ball, base colours, and a guide for achieving the perfect colour. You can find the complete kit on Amazon with the code B083B7B3QN for £14.99, with free delivery for Prime customers.

Start by preparing the area, cleaning it thoroughly and cutting any irregular edges. If the padding underneath is depressed, raise it with cotton balls.

Cut a piece of supporting fabric slightly larger than the hole, and insert it under the damage with a spatula, covering the hole completely. Mix the colour for a perfect match, place the fibres in the mixing jar, add the metal ball, screw on the lid, and shake for 30 seconds.

Remove the ball, secure the elastic mesh on the jar (which acts as a sieve), and apply a thin layer of textile glue over the damaged area, extending slightly beyond the edges. Hold the jar upside down and gently tap to allow the fibres to pass through the mesh onto the glue, which should be completely covered by the fibres; press lightly with the spatula for better adhesion and leave to dry for 24 hours, after which blow away any excess fibres.
