What should you do if your car is declared "not chainable" by the manufacturer? Many modern vehicles have this limitation due to the large number of sensors in the wheels. However, you can still fit chains: Check the side clearance by inserting your fingers between the tyre sidewall and the suspension. If there is one finger (2 cm), then there is space for the chain. Perform a check with the steering turned fully left and check the space between the tyre, shock absorber, and wishbone/suspension. Again, in the video, there is just enough space. Check the opposite side as well (in the video, there is more space here). Ensure that the chain, once fitted, does not rub against the wheel arch when compressed. The conditions for "informed risk" are that they are only fitted in emergencies and that you accept the risk, and above all, you must have completed the checks described above.
