How to Replace the Rear Wheel Bearing on a VW Polo

Model: Volkswagen Polo MK IV, Polo IV, Polo 4, MK 4, 9N - Years 2001-2009

If you hear a noise similar to a buzzing coming from the rear of the vehicle, which increases in corners as the load on the wheel increases, the rear wheel hub bearing is likely damaged. The replacement is fairly straightforward as the bearing comes complete with the hub, which is the flange to which the brake disc is attached. Lift the vehicle and remove the rear wheel, the brake caliper with its support, and then remove the disc. Next, take off the cap at the centre of the hub to unscrew the central nut. Remove the flange with the old bearing and install the new one, securing it with a new nut and applying a new protective cap. Then, reverse the process by reassembling the disc, caliper, and wheel.
