Dismantling and Replacing the Diesel Filter

Model: Volkswagen Vento A3, MK 1 - Years 1991-1998
Part: Diesel fuel filter

The diesel filter is located at the front right, between the shock absorber mount and the air filter housing.
For convenience, it is advisable to remove the pipe connecting the air filter to the intake manifold by releasing the retaining clips with a pair of pliers.
Using the same pliers, remove the retaining pin for the rear pipes and pull them out from their respective filter seat.
Loosen the retaining clips of the other pipes connected to the filter spouts and detach them from the filter itself.
Unscrew the screw of the filter support clip and remove the filter from its seat.
Then, fit the new filter (ensuring it is correctly positioned relative to the inlet and outlet pipes of the diesel) and tighten the retaining clip.
Reconnect the pipes to the filter in the correct position by reapplying the retaining pin and the retaining clips.
Finally, refit the air intake pipe that was previously removed.
