Replacement of Front Shock Absorbers

Model: Volkswagen Vento A3, MK 1 - Years 1991-1998

Position the vehicle on a lift and, after opening the bonnet, spray some penetrating oil on the nut securing the shock absorber shaft; then proceed to remove it while holding the shaft with the appropriate hex key. Lift the vehicle and remove the front wheel; place a jack under the suspension wishbone to support it during the shock absorber removal. Next, detach the shock absorber mounting bolts from the wheel hub and, before extracting it from its seat, disconnect the brake fluid line. Once the shock absorber is removed, reverse the process to install the new one complete with spring.
