How to reset the "Service" light on a Volkswagen Passat?

To deactivate the "Service" light on a Volkswagen Passat, start by turning on the instrument panel without starting the engine. Look for the button located under the panel and hold it down until the maintenance menu appears on the display. From here, navigate through the options until you find the one for resetting the service reminder. Press the button again to select it and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the operation. The system will take a few moments to complete the process, after which the light should turn off. To ensure that the reset was successful, turn off and restart the instrument panel. If the message does not reappear, the reset has been completed and the system is ready to monitor the next maintenance intervals.
